Our History
Ocean
Gate School is located on 126 West Arverne Avenue in Ocean
Gate, New Jersey. The town is located on the southern bank
of Toms River in Ocean County. The borough encompasses .44
square miles and as of the 2000 Census, has an overall
population of 2,076.
In 1914 the original one room school on Arverne Avenue with an outhouse and a pot bellied wood stove was built. All eight grades were taught in this school. Today this building is occupied by our Kindergarten class.
In 1940 a two room school was built on Barnegat Avenue. In 1956 Ocean Gate became a member of Central Regional High School. Our students attend Central Regional School District in neighboring Berkley Township for grade seven through twelve.
In 1968 the third building was built on Arverne Avenue. Again in 1994, Ocean Gate School Expanded with an addition to the main building.
The School serves grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Six. We have full day Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes.
