Dear Parents, Guardians and members of the Ocean Gate School Community:
I would like to welcome back all students and parents who have been a part of the Ocean Gate Family and also wish a warm welcome to the newcomers to our school. Please enjoy viewing our web site as it contains some important and helpful information.
As many of you know, last year we received the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School Award by the United States Secretary of Education. As we begin the 2012-2013 school-year, I would like to offer a little quotation that I saw posted on a marquee that read, “Aspire to Inspire.” This year we began our opening day staff In-service with this message, as I believe it is certainly fitting because it exemplifies what each of us strives to do for the children in the Ocean Gate Elementary School.
The definition of aspire is an ambition or ultimate goal. For each of us, whether a teacher, a parent, a nurse, a paraprofessional, an administrator, board member or a custodian, we all aspire to urge our school children in many different ways. In the Ocean Gate Community we are here to educate children, but also to give them a feeling of success, that they will succeed and they have hope. They can learn well and have fun while doing so. The phrase also evokes the idea that we are all role-models for a greater purpose and that we lead the way as our children watch us and learn from what they see.
The 2012-2013 school year will be a busy one for us here in the Ocean Gate School District as we tackle the new state initiatives, QSAC state monitoring, state testing and many other requirements. The Board of Education has much responsibility as well. They have seen to it to implement the next phase of adding a new heating and air-conditioning system in the multi-purpose room.
In the area of curriculum, the new Go-Math Textbook Series has been added, and our teachers are working hard to train for instruction.
Our parent/teacher organization is called the School Community Council. They have made amazing strides as they are very organized and always dedicated to our students in such a positive way.
So, with all that is happening here in the Ocean Gate School District, it is with great pride and joy that for this school year, and in the future, we all focus on the theme “Aspire to Inspire.” Please feel free to call me at (732) 269-3023.
