As the Read Across America festivities continued, Ocean Gate was happy to be joined by local author Brian Seidel who wrote Captain Henry and the Planets Guard. Mr. Seidel, who is originally from Barnegat and now resides in Charlotte, NC, talked with our students about this labor of love that took him over ten years to write. Our third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students were able to ask engaging questions about the writing process and get some lessons on resilience and following through on a goal when you set out to achieve it.
Ms. Murphy was able to orchestrate this collaboration and we thank the generous donors who contributed the 73 copies of the book. Each of our participants gladly left with a book in their hands. It was a gator great day indeed to be able to give our students this opportunity to interact with an author in such a close setting and see how the process unfolds!
